As long as you use it right, the rear brake isn't bad. I've had more trouble with the front unit myself. I don't like using the front brake, so I keep my rear unit adjusted differently from most riders, about 1/8 or 3/16" free play in the pedal. When I need to stop hard, it does. The bike will head for the ditch and turn 90 degrees to the direction of travel. 60 mph to 0 mph usually takes about 25 feet now in an emergency stop. Damned hard on the bike and tires, but...
